Excerpt (1)

On the Ling Yu Continent, cultivators who practice the five elements live above the common

mortals. Above the power of the five elements is the force of the sun, moon, and stars. Those

who possess this power have lived for generations in the cloud barrier that surrounds Ling Yu

Continent, and they are revered as gods by the people on the ground. Beyond the sun, moon, and stars, there exists the void. Those who reach this realm can transcend the limitations of all

things in the universe, merging with nature, transforming into consciousness, and existing

without birth, aging, death, or decay. The southern skies are vast, the moon is bright, yet the eerie Phoenix Forest, full of thorns and

venomous creatures, casts an ominous shadow under the moonlight. Nine individuals, dressed

in dark robes, step slowly with calm composure, each surrounded by radiating light in five

colors—red, indigo, earth, emerald, and gold. Upon closer inspection, these different lights are

emitted by five distinct people. These individuals are the five most powerful cultivators in Ling Yu Continent, the five elders of

the Tongling Valley: Elder Hongye of the Red Flame, Elder Lanhui of the Cold Lodge, Elder

Tengluo of Tai Sen, Elder Mo Kui of the Sand, and Elder Can Jiu of the Shadow Sword. The masked figure at the forefront of the nine black-robed people spoke, "Elder Hongye..."

"Impudent!" Elder Hongye's fiery aura surged instantly, directing its heat towards the masked

figure. Elder Tengluo interrupted, "The God’s Ritual happens once every thousand years. Only a

few can be chosen to undergo the ritual. The Phoenix Forest is near the altar; your spiritual

power is weak. You must calm your energy, gather your spiritual essence, and avoid speaking

too much. Beware the pollution of the Divine Realm." The black-robed individuals fell silent, and a murderous intent flickered in the eyes behind the

mask... With the five elemental powers in place, poisons were avoided, yet suddenly a chaotic wind

swept from all directions. The five elders' faces changed instantly as they set up a formation on

the spot. Elder Lanhui furrowed his brow and said, "This aura is strong and unfamiliar..." Elder Can Jiu of the Shadow Sword silently gripped his sword and murmured, "The Phoenix

Forest is recorded in the Hundred Demons' Chronicle. Millions of years ago, the steed of Lord

Changliu, the Phoenix, was punished for its transgressions and fell here, filled with

resentment..." Lanhui responded, "But that was sealed by the celestial god officer, Ji Mo Qiu of the Sun Hall. How could it appear on the day of the Divine Ritual?"

— 4 —

Elder Hongye declared, "We cannot delay the ritual; we must leave immediately!" Before they could move, a massive shadow loomed overhead— the cursed Phoenix. Its once

golden wings now devoid of light, it screeched loudly as black mist spread around it. Elder Tengluo cried out, "This is bad! This is the cursed mark of the Phoenix. Those who bear it

can never cultivate again!" Hongye shouted, "Retreat!"

If it weren’t for the nine sacrificial participants with low cultivation, the five elders could have

immediately disappeared, but... The Phoenix’s black mist surged towards them, ready to devour the nine individuals. One man

secretly formed a hand seal, emitting a faint white light. A piercing screech echoed— a moon-white beam of light pierced the Phoenix’s body, and the

evil aura froze for an instant. The light was a sword, embedding itself in the ground before

transforming into a streak of moonlight and vanishing, leaving only a chilling arrow mark. The black mist dissipated, replaced by twinkling starlight. The starlight landed on the people, bringing with it a gentle, divine power that soothed their hearts. Elder Tengluo looked up and saw the shadow of a figure under the faint moonlight. His pupils

widened, and he immediately knelt in respect, saying, "Greetings, Moon God." The others

followed and knelt. The figure in the sky spoke in a clear, cold voice, "I am not the Moon God. There is no need for

such formalities, Elder Hongye." The elders, still kneeling, did not dare to look up. Elder Hongye said, "For a thousand years, we

have never encountered the cursed Phoenix on the day of the ritual. Could it be...?"

"Today's appearance of the Phoenix is due to the fiery aura you released in your arrogance," the

figure interrupted Elder Hongye. Elder Hongye was frightened and silent. When they looked up again, the figure had vanished. Elder Tengluo stood and said, "Hongye, you have incurred the wrath of the gods. Return to the

Tongling Valley to receive punishment. The rest of you, continue toward the altar." The closer they got to the altar, the stronger the divine aura became. The exit of the Phoenix

Forest was a vast Heavenly Pool, brimming with spiritual energy, with red spider lilies blooming

along the shore.

— 5 —

Suddenly, ripples appeared on the surface of the lake, and a massive jade disc rose from

beneath the water. "The time has come. Go," Elder Lanhui said. The nine of them flew onto the jade disc, and a beam of light, swirling with snow, shot down

onto the disc. At first, they only felt a cool and pleasant sensation, but it gradually became extremely cold. A

mark resembling the moon appeared on their foreheads. Some did not receive it. Soon, the

beam turned golden, and a burning sensation spread through their bodies. Some bore the mark

of the sun on their foreheads, while only one person bore both the sun and moon marks. Their bodies became lighter and more transparent, leaving only the shapes outlined by streaks

of light. Finally, as the light returned to the clouds, their bodies vanished. Outside the Heavenly Pool, the elders saw this scene and excitedly knelt, saying, "The gods are

merciful. Blessings upon Ling Yu!" Excerpt (2)

The two of them rode their horses and stopped in front of a grove of poplar trees. The mist

gently caressed the cliffside like ocean waves. It was dusk, the setting sun blood-red, and the

clouds in front of the poplar forest were painted pink. Bu Xu said, "It seems that the clouds meet the cliff here, but beneath the thick clouds lies the

River of Forgetfulness. One misstep and you will immediately vanish."

"Long time no see, Bu Shiwei." At that moment, a white crane carrying a woman flew out from

the mist. Bu Xu waved excitedly and said, "Bai He Shengu, how have you been lately?"

"Don't mention it. The princess of Yang Kingdom, Wen Jiujiu, is about to come for a marriage

alliance. The wedding date is near, and guests have been arriving one after another. I’ve been

busy bringing a flock of little cranes to receive them. It’s exhausting," Bai He Shengu said as

she jumped off the crane. She then looked toward Xie Rongjing. Bu Xu quickly explained, "This is Bai He Shengu, and this person is a mortal chosen for the

divine ritual." — 6 —

"Oh..." Bai He Shengu sized Xie Rongjing up, her reddish-brown eyebrows raised. A playful glint

flickered in her eyes. "Good bone structure. And don’t let that girl from Xuan Ji Palace see this. I

suggest you wear a mask when you go out in the future." Xie Rongjing replied, "Thank you for the advice, Shengu." Bai He Shengu whistled, calling two more

white cranes. "I see you're heading to the isolated island. There are no more cloud ships available now, but I

have two little cranes. Let them take you there," she said. With a flick of her sleeve, she soared

into the air, spinning around, and transformed into flying white crane feathers that scattered and

disappeared. Bu Xu clasped his hands and lowered his head, saying, "Thank you, Shengu." The two of them sat cross-legged on the crane's back. The white cranes spread their wings, circling the air for a few moments before diving into the pink cloud mass and then flying just

above the mist. From afar, the two cranes traced two clear lines in the clouds. Bu Xu and Xie Rongjing, close to

the clouds, seemed as if they were soaring within them, with birds like seagulls and crows

darting through. Suddenly, the white cranes halted. The setting sun at the horizon was half-covered by the

clouds. A large bird leaped from the clouds and returned, drawing a beautiful arc in front of the

sun, like a fish leaping over a dragon's gate. The large bird swiftly flew past them, followed

shortly by thousands of smaller birds, flying in unison. The large bird was white, but it shimmered with a golden glow, while the smaller birds, with

feathers of various colors, flew rapidly past. Under the radiance, they created a dazzling, multicolored glow— a breathtaking sight. Bu Xu exclaimed excitedly, "Little brother, you're lucky. This sight is the Hundred Birds

Worshipping the Phoenix. The Moon Phoenix only appears once a month, and it resides in the

Light Forest." Xie Rongjing sighed, "To see such a fantastical scene in this life is enough." Once the birds flew away, the white cranes resumed their flight. He asked, "The Bai He Shengu

just now looked quite impressive. Who is she?" Bu Xu replied, "Her name is Song Liang. She is from the Bai He Divine Clan and the eldest

daughter of the clan, highly regarded. That’s why everyone calls her Bai He Liang."

"I see..."

— 7 —

Soon, the vast pink mist seemed to be drawn downward toward the River of Forgetfulness,

forming a cloud waterfall. As it began to fall, a crystal-clear glass bridge appeared at the edge of

the waterfall. At the end of the bridge, the land of the isolated island was visible. Bu Xu explained, "We've arrived. If we cross this glass bridge over the cloud waterfall, we will

enter the isolated island." With that, he jumped down from the crane's back and made two

crossed hand seals. He called out loudly, "Yue Wei Bu Xu, sending the divine ritual mortal into the Yue Kill Spy

Division, please open the island's gate." A thin blue laser shot from the hand seal toward the end of the bridge. Soon, a crystal door glowing with blue light appeared at the bridge’s end. The light lock at the

center absorbed the laser and slowly opened. Bu Xu said, "You go ahead. I need to hurry." Xie Rongjing thanked him, then watched as the two cranes and Bu Xu left before turning to

enter the island gate. What greeted him was a tunnel filled with pale blue and purple flowers and plants. The tunnel

was suspended, and only a few floating glass tiles could be used to walk forward. Xie Rongjing carefully walked, afraid of falling if he wasn’t careful. After passing through the

tunnel, he reached solid land, where a woman in a white gauze dress with a blue ribbon tied at

the waist stood. She said, "Please follow me," and blindfolded him with a black cloth strip. He wasn’t sure how long he had walked or how many steps he had climbed before entering

some unknown place. Someone removed the cloth strip. "What is your name?" came a deep voice from above. The man who spoke was the island's

master, also in charge of the Yue Kill Division. His white hair was loosely tied with a blue ribbon, and under his black cloak, his blue tunic was casually worn, giving off a lazy air. "Xie Rongjing," he replied, speaking in a refined manner.

Excerpt (3)

For the past few days, Lin Yuewen only placed the meals outside the door and did not

accompany Xie Rongjing in his cultivation. The two barely even saw each other. Others thought that a rift had formed between them, and they gossiped with schadenfreude. But little did they know, Lin Yuewen had been cultivating at the Guardian Tower, where she had

always used the essence of moonlight as the catalyst for her cultivation, making her spiritual

power extremely powerful and pure.

In the Moon Kingdom, every person is born with a divine position and a moon elixir. Some have

the sword, others the rain. These divine positions are known as Yi Ling, and they are very weak

and fragile. Even if one reaches the highest level of cultivation, they will never surpass the purity

of a true Moon Spirit. Thus, most people, from the beginning of their cultivation, use the essence of moonlight to

accumulate the pure power of the Moon Spirit. When their divine position reaches the highest

level, they can then offer all the power of the Moon Spirit to the divine position, thus becoming a

follower of the Moon, transforming into one of the Moon Spirits. At that time, the divine position will undergo a change in quality by millions of times. However, many factors affect this transformation. The purity of the Moon Spirit's power determines the

level of the divine position, and the environment and state during the offering affect the difficulty

of cultivation afterward. This process is called the awakening of the divine position, or the tribulation. The awakened

divine position is divided into six upper levels and three lower levels. Only those who achieve an

upper-level divine position can be called High Gods. Since the appearance of the cloud barrier, apart from those whose divine position is already the

Moon Spirit, fewer than three thousand people have managed to undergo the tribulation and

awaken to become High Gods from Yi Ling. Bai Shen’s divine position is Dream Butterfly, and at this moment, she was breaking through the

final layer of the Dream Butterfly’s realm. As the sun rose, she sat on the couch by the window of the Guardian Tower. Her body emitted a

faint purple and blue glow, and countless butterfly-shaped lights fluttered around her—this was

the state of imminent breakthrough. The formation beneath her continued to rotate, eventually passing through her body and slowly

rising to the top of her head, shrinking smaller and smaller until it became a light point. The light

point turned into a crystal and moved to Lin Yuewen’s forehead, merging with her. At this

moment, the entire room was filled with radiant light, the air filled with an ethereal energy, so

much so that even the low-tier birds outside came to absorb the spiritual essence. — 9 —

At this time, a commotion came from below the tower: "Good sister, please let me in. Yuewen

has been sulking these past few days, and I need to cheer her up."

"No, this is the Guardian Tower. Men cannot enter."

It was Xie Rongjing’s voice. What was he doing here? Lin Yuewen hurriedly placed a protective

seal around herself, blocking her spiritual power. A white veil automatically appeared over her

eyes as she leaned against a cushion. After waiting for a while, Xie Rongjing still didn’t come

up. Due to her intense focus on breaking through the final layer of the realm these past few

days, she had not slept properly, and the strong pull of exhaustion overcame her. She drifted off

into a deep sleep.

Excerpt (1)

The night was cool as water, and the candle flames flickered in the imperial study. Chancellor Li

Su stood respectfully in front of the dragon desk, while Crown Prince Zhao Xuan sat nearby, his

face solemn. Li Su was the first to break the silence. "Your Highness, the Emperor's health is failing, and the

political situation is full of turmoil. We all worry greatly." Crown Prince Zhao Xuan lifted his gaze. "Chancellor, you must have a plan." Li Su stroked his beard, his eyes deep with thought. "I have heard that the Second Prince and

the Empress have been moving around the palace frequently in recent days, seeming to have

ulterior motives. Your Highness should make plans early. I am willing to offer my assistance to

help secure your position in the East Palace and, one day, ensure your succession to the

throne." Zhao Xuan frowned slightly. "Chancellor, your loyalty is known to me, but the Second Prince has

the backing of the Empress’s family, which is not to be underestimated. If I act rashly, it may

become fodder for gossip." Li Su sneered. "Your Highness, your benevolence is admirable, but in the palace, such softness

is not advisable. I have already made secret preparations. At your command, I can present

evidence of the Second Prince's treachery before the Emperor." Zhao Xuan was taken aback. After a moment of contemplation, he replied, "While your actions

are meant to protect me, the Emperor has not yet made a clear indication, so I must carefully

consider the matter." Li Su, seeing the Crown Prince's hesitation, quickly said, "Your Highness, time waits for no one.

If the Second Prince strikes first, all your years of patience will have been for naught." Zhao Xuan stood up and paced for a while before slowly saying, "Chancellor, hold off for now. I

will first test the Emperor's intentions and then make a decision." Li Su, seeing that he could not persuade Zhao Xuan further, reluctantly agreed, "Your Highness, please make haste. I will await your decision in the manor." With that, he bowed and withdrew. Zhao Xuan watched the Chancellor leave, his thoughts churning. He mused to himself: In this

political game, one wrong move could lead to total defeat. I must tread carefully. At that

moment, a gust of wind rose outside the window, as if a storm were about to break.

Excerpt (2)

Heavy snowflakes fell, and the imperial palace stood quiet and majestic in a world of silver and

white. In the pavilion of the imperial garden, the Emperor, draped in a fur cloak, sat alone at the

stone table. On the table, a pot of wine was warming, accompanied by several small dishes. The Crown Prince, dressed in a brocade robe, walked steadily forward and respectfully saluted

outside the pavilion. "Father, I seek an audience." The Emperor looked up. "Come in." The Crown Prince entered the pavilion, and the snow melted on his shoulders. The Emperor

gestured to the seat across from him. "Sit." The Crown Prince complied, sitting down and

pouring a cup of wine for the Emperor, then filling one for himself. The Emperor gently swirled the wine in his glass, his gaze distant. "I know you have many

thoughts in your heart. Tonight, with the snow falling and no one else around, you may speak

openly." The Crown Prince paused for a moment before rising, lifting his robes and kneeling. "Father, I

am deeply anxious. But since you have inquired, I dare not conceal anything. The court is in

turmoil, and I, being in the East Palace, am watched by many. Numerous factions seek to either

win my favor or remove me altogether." The Emperor fixed his gaze on the Crown Prince. "Oh? What do you plan to do?" The Crown Prince lifted his head, his eyes resolute. "I only wish to relieve Father of some of the

burden and ensure the stability of our dynasty and kingdom. Yet, I often find myself confused, unsure of what is the right course of action and what is merely a temporary measure. Take the

few key ministers in the court for example; I know each has their own faction. How should I

strike a balance and manage them? I seek Father’s guidance." The Emperor took a gentle sip of wine, sighing. "I have ruled for many years and have

witnessed much political maneuvering. As the heir, balancing all factions is important, but more

crucial is the ability to see through people’s hearts. You must not reveal your likes or dislikes too

easily. You must employ both kindness and authority with the ministers. Take the Chancellor, for

instance. He holds great power in the court. You must use his abilities, but also guard against

his potential overreach." The Crown Prince pondered for a moment. "Father, I understand. But sometimes I worry that

focusing too much on power struggles will cause me to lose sight of my true purpose." The Emperor set his wine cup down, standing and walking to the edge of the pavilion, gazing at

the falling snow. "I too have had such concerns. But as a ruler, one cannot avoid such things. Look at this snow. When it falls, it is pure and spotless, yet when it piles up, it can reshape the

world. Power and strategy are like this snow. When used properly, they can shape a prosperous

age; but if consumed by it, it will lead to ruin." As the snow fell heavier and heavier, the figures of the Emperor and the Crown Prince in the

pavilion gradually blurred, their silhouettes merging with the falling snow. Yet, the resolve and

hope between them lingered in the snowy night, unyielding. — 13 —

Excerpt (3)

The thick darkness of night spread like ink, tightly enveloping the imposing prison, as if it

sought to devour all hope and life. General Xiao Feng, like a vengeful figure from the dark

night, donned tight black clothes that fluttered in the wind. His form was agile, like a predator ready

to strike, yet at this moment, his heart was in turmoil, disturbed by the danger that threatened

his close friend.

Inside the prison, the flickering torchlight cast dim shadows, revealing the battered body of

Lin Yu. His clothes were torn and nearly shredded from the lashes, his bare skin marked with

countless bloody scars—new wounds still fresh with raw flesh, old ones dried into scabs. Despite his condition, he stood tall, his back straight, defiant in his pain. Xiao Feng, seeing

this, felt a surge of blood rush to his head, his eyes blazing with anger. He drew his sword with

a

sharp hiss, the blade gleaming coldly, just like his unwavering resolve in this moment. With

a swift flick of his wrist, the sword cut through the air in a chilling arc, and with a furious roar, he charged towards the guards. The guards, panicked, raised their weapons in a desperate attempt to stop him. But Xiao

Feng moved like lightning, his sword dancing in his hands as if it were a dragon breaking free

from the sea. Each swing of the blade sent a spray of blood, and as the guards screamed

in agony, they collapsed one by one, their cries echoing through the silent prison, filling the

air with even more bloodshed and terror. Xiao Feng fought his way to the door of Lin Yu’s cell and mercilessly struck the heavy

chains locking it. Sparks flew as the iron chain snapped under the force of the blow. Without pausing for breath, he stepped into the cell, urgently calling, “Lin Yu, I’ve come to

take you out!” His

voice trembled with anger and anxiety, but there was a firmness in it that left no room for doubt. Lin Yu slowly raised his head. When he saw Xiao Feng, a flicker of surprise flashed across

his eyes, which was quickly replaced by deep emotion. “Xiao Feng, you madman, you dared

to

break into the prison.” His voice was weak, but it carried the trust and reliance he had in

his close friend. The two locked eyes, and without a word, they moved in perfect sync, fighting side by side

as they made their way toward freedom. But as they stepped into the prison courtyard, they

were immediately surrounded by an overwhelming force of soldiers. The soldiers, armed with

long spears and short swords, their shields gleaming in the torchlight, formed an

impenetrable wall around them. Xiao Feng showed no fear. All of his worry and fury for his friend were channeled into his

sword, and he became a killing machine, ruthlessly charging into the enemy ranks. The sword

became a blur in his hands, every swing accompanied by the splattering of blood. He roared, “ Lin Yu, even if I have to die today, I will get you out of here!” His voice rang through the courtyard,

filled with unyielding determination and courage, causing the soldiers to hesitate with fear. — 14 —

— 15 —

“Lin Yu, watching Xiao Feng fight so desperately for him, felt a mixture of deep emotion and

guilt

in his heart. He knew that the situation was dire, and escaping unscathed was almost

impossible. Watching Xiao Feng fight recklessly, his heart filled with resolve. Suddenly, he shoved Xiao Feng aside, using all his strength to rush into the thick of the soldiers. Though covered in wounds, he exploded with an astonishing strength, swinging his arms like

a maddened beast. “Xiao Feng, go! I can’t drag you down,” he shouted. His voice, hoarse

from the exertion, struck Xiao Feng’s heart like a hammer, echoing in the chaos of battle. Xiao Feng turned in shock, trying to reach out to stop Lin Yu, but his hand grasped nothing

but empty air. He watched helplessly as Lin Yu was pierced by the sharp spear of a soldier. The spear plunged into his body, and blood sprayed out like a fountain. “No—!” Xiao Feng screamed in despair, his voice tearing through the heavy night air. His

eyes instantly turned bloodshot, the rage and sorrow swelling within him, drowning him

entirely. Without hesitation, he charged towards Lin Yu, his sword raised high, and every strike was

fueled by his fury and grief. Each blow sent soldiers shrieking in agony, blood splattering

everywhere. His only thought was to reach Lin Yu and save him. “Lin Yu, why!” he cried out

as he fought, his voice filled with confusion and unbearable pain. After being struck by the spear, Lin Yu’s body swayed but didn’t fall. He gritted his teeth, enduring the excruciating pain as he continued to fend off the attacking soldiers, buying

Xiao Feng a chance to escape. His eyes were filled with a steely resolve, as if silently

telling Xiao Feng: “Go, don’t worry about me.” Xiao Feng fought his way through the crowd and finally reached Lin Yu. He held him tightly,

tears streaming down his blood-streaked face, mingling with the blood from Lin Yu’s

wounds. “We swore to live and die together, how could you leave me?” Xiao Feng’s voice

broke, filled with unbearable sorrow. As he held Lin Yu, feeling his body growing colder and stiffer in his arms, Xiao Feng’s heart

shattered. He looked up to the sky and let out a mournful howl, like a wounded wolf crying in

the depths of the night, filled with endless pain and rage
